September 2007 - Offshore Powerboats
Filmed the Auckland series of the Offshore Powerboats from the chopper, now that was a buzz! These boats are so powerful, when you fly up to within 50 metres of one you can hear their engines...
over the sound of our own engine. That's some serious horsepower, the boats seem to be on edge of engine design and performance, as well as the laws of physics. The conditions weren't perfect, and every now and then a boat would catch the lip of a wave and get some serious air..scary stuff when it happens! I'd be keen for a go in one of these on a nice calm day, probably too quick to throw a line out the back though!
