March 2009 - Avalon Airshow and the MSII

It's Avalon Airshow time! I've been working for Axsys/Helifilms demoing the V14 and also training up on the new V14 MSII...which has an optical lens plus an Infra Red thermal imaging sensor. This is a whole new area, the applications are amazing...search and rescue being something that I've love to become involved with. Already several power companies are using them to detect faults...
...they can be hovering 1000ft above the power lines, and get a full screen image of any component in crystal clear HD or Infra Red...or both! One morning while flying into Avalon we were tracking some trucks on the highway, and were able to tell which tyres were hotter than others. You can see which parts of the road are hotter than others where cars have driven over. Add the laser range finder, and geo mapping systems from Avalex...and we are talking Star Wars. Loving it.

My friend Marshall Dosdane in Infra Red, don't hit the laser button!
