March 2008 - We are GO for HD
We're happy to announce that we now have an agreement with Helifilms Ltd, an international aerial filming company. We can now offer clients the option of HD aerial filming using their state of the art Cineflex V14 systems. Helifilms have several cameras stationed around the world, and a roster of qualified pilots, choppers and technical personnel...
...You've most likely seen some of Helifilm's work before. They ran the whole aerial filming unit for the 2004 Athens Olympics, 10 helicopters running full time. An amazing feat indeed! Anyhow, we're pretty exceited about this. If you are looking at getting HD gyro filming done anywhere in the world, chances are we can help. Please email for details.
March was a huge month for us, one of the coolest jobs was filming a couple of sequences for Greenpeace. We took some great fly through footage of deforested areas in the central North Island that are headed for an international documentary. Stay tuned.
The other highlight was getting footage for a New Zealand built motion simulator, all based around the central geothermal area. The greatest part was flying through the Mt Tarawera crater, just mindblowing.
Flight simulators seemed to be the flavour of the month, we also got some fly through footage around the Auckland region for Vero Insurance. Their production company has some pretty cool plans for the images but I best not let the cat out of the bag...or they'll raise my premiums!
Heading to Northland next month on a stills assignment for a HUGE development...from what I've seen the area is just beautiful, so looking forward to that one. Will be testing a new Zeiss lens for Sony, should be great fun.
Oh yeah, one more thing...we filmed a twister forming! Jeepers, was a little scary but so awesome to see mother nature at work. Luckily the twister didn't touch down and do any damage, but the pictures were great and TV One ran with them on the news at 6. Good old Jim Hickey (the world's best weatherman) gave us a plug on the weather too. Cheers Jim!
Ok, catch y'ou next month! Don't forget to bookmark us to keep in the loop.
