March 2007 - Lahar and Queen Mary 2

Filmed the lahar at Mt Ruapehu for TV3 news with Steve from Helicam, mindlowing to see. The best part was going up on sunrise the morning after...it was just magic. The mountain top was clouded in...

...so Steve surfed the air up to around 12000ft and we waited, then there was a period of a few minutes where the cloud broke around the crater and we could see what had happened. Steve did a great job of holding the chopper relatively stable in very hard conditions, and we got some great stuff. The light was haunting and everything looked otherworldy. Mountains definitely have spirits. Steve and I stoked, amazing times. Click here to see some footage of the lahar.

Ruapehu Crater

Another cool job for TV3- this time Steve and I were sent out early in the morning to film the Queen Mary 2 as it arrived in Auckland harbour. Now that's a big boat!
